This happened after selling my CX-5 GT mazda to my son. How this happened: My son bought an e-pass sticker and placed it under the control sensors on the windshield. This caused the sensor to shut off. Solution: Move e-pass sticker to driver's side and Go to Settings and windshield wipers and turn the system back on!
3. Faulty Park Switch. The park switch is a component in the windshield motor that regulates voltage flow to the wipers. If it gets faulty, the current will flow continuously or stop flowing. If the current flows continuously to the wipers, the windshield wipers will turn on by themselves. It can happen even when the car is off.
Quite a process! 1: Cycle the ignition (Without holding brake/clutch, push 3 times from ACC, RUN, and then OFF). If the car is running, just turn it off normally. 2: Double tap the wipers to "Mist". My front wipers suddenly have the following behavior: - Auto and Intermittent settings do nothing. - Pressing up to the single wipe "mist" cycle will start a cycle but stops in the middle or anywhere if I stop holding it up. - Low and High speeds work, but similar to the mist cycle, will stop right where they are when they are turned off rather
If that is the case the auto wiper mode isn't working as I've driven the car in the rain with the wipers set in intermittent or auto mode and other than the initial pass when turned on they don't do anything until I move the control to either low, high or turn off the intermittent/auto mode and turn it back on.
5. Blocked hose. In rare cases, a dirty or pinched hose can be responsible for windscreen washer system malfunction on Mazda CX-9. To diagnose, first open the hood and pull the end of the hose out of a windshield washer nozzle, and then turn on the washer system. You should see the fluid gushing out of the hose.
Had this on 2010 Escape. SOLVED! My rear wiper motor was fused, draining my battery. I pulled the fuse. Washer fluid pump still working… A week later I removed the bad rear wiper motor ( on the glass of the hatch), getting ready to replace it the next day. After I unplugged the power to the rear motor, MY WIPER FLUID PUMP WOULD NOT WORK.
